Throughout this website we have said that if you want to get car insurance fast, then you must become knowledgeable on all things car insurance. Do you know about no-fault insurance? This is something that not many people know about because it is not available in every state. Regardless of if you can get it or not, you still need to be familiar with it. This can help you become an insurance guru.
Like we said, this is not yet available in every state. You will have what they call no fault states, and choice states. No-fault insurance sets up a limit on how much people can sue other driver's for damages in accidents.
If you have an accident in a state where you have no-fault insurance, then you will find that the insurance company will pay for the injuries that resulted for the accident.
If you unfortunately get hit in a no-fault state then your insurance company will pay for repairs. You are not at fault. What your insurance company can then do is go to the other driver's insurance company if they believe they are at fault. The other drivers will be covered by their own policy, but your insurance company can then fight to get some of the money back.
If you are hit in a choice state you will have different options. Option number one is to have the insurance company fix the damage. There is also option number two which is to leave your insurance company out of the process and have the other driver's insurance handle any of the problems. You will then find that you do not have to report the accident to your insurance, and you will often times save money on a deductible.
The true idea behind no fault insurance is that it will stop people from blindly suing other drivers who might have been in the accident. You must know that there is no pure no-fault system at the moment. In order to do that the states would have to deny their citizens any right to sue, and this is not something that is going to happen. Thus, this is the reason behind having both no-fault and choice states.
